Each round is a little quilt in itself, symbolizing one house swept from its foundation, contents spilled randomly. “Houses” pieced and quilted on Pfaff 2046. Plywood backing found beachcombing in Spring 2006. Flag fabric in most “houses” honor families who planted flags amid their rubble to say, “we are not defeated”. All other fabric in rounds from the beach and Poolhouse. Background and backing are new fabric. Velcro is glued to plywood, and machine-sewn on the backs of the ”houses”, so that they can be pulled off and rearranged at random.
